ethical dilemma

A hypothetical question in my ethics class today asked: would you intervene with a newly discovered, isolated culture that sacrfices infants and young children to quiet a volcano? Everyone in the class said ‘no’ (except me) because intervention would ruin the culture.

Sick. Why do people today believe that collective culture is more important than individual life? I’m no imperialist, I just value life in itself! To quote a slightly influential American:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Maria and I went jetskiing last Wednesday (April 12th)… the water was cold but the lake was nice and empty. I definitely will miss the lakes if I move away from this state.

On expensive cars…

I’ve been watching the TLC show “Overhaulin’” a lot. I love it. If ever given the opportunity to spend a lot of money on a car, I would always choose an old car and make it awesome rather than the brand new luxury or sports car.
