Digitalism 1

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

I may or may not write more than one post about this, but I don’t care. This is number one.

When I first got started in photography, I loved film; and I guess I still do, but it’s such a hassle. I thought digital photography sucked - that it was too easy, and it produced below-par images. I didn’t even get started in photography that long ago: it was after high school. And now, after two years in a photography degree program, I am finally starting to fall in love with photography of a digital nature. It still is photography; the CCD (or CMOS) is really no more different from film than film is from polaroid or polaroid is from old school wetplate. It’s a different light-capture medium. Its implications go far beyond this, but just as before, good photography is never “plug and play.”

Pillow-top Closed-coil Queen

I like my bed (our bed). I’m not kidding about this: everytime I lay down on it, the 80’s Belinda Carlisle song “Heaven is a Place on Earth” runs through my head. I’m really not kidding. I can’t explain it.

Seinfeld wisdom?

Since I don’t read books very often, I gather my knowledge from daytime television: is George’s experience in “The Abstinence” truth? (No sex makes you smart, therefore sex makes you dumb.)

What a stupid thing to think about…
