Thought of the Day 025

Sometimes don’t you wonder how you got where you are?
Ha… so cheesy.
This is odd to me, that Oakley would produce an Ultra High Definition digital video camera. I’m not in love with filmography, but this is really cool. It’s called Red.

Hi-def at the moment is only 2.1 MP per frame… Red is 12 MP. It’s like a Canon 5D at 60 fps. I’d love to see a Red movie.
Canon has just released the stunning 1Ds Mark III Digital SLR. All I can say is that this thing is insane… at 21.1 MP, 35mm digital cameras are now another step closer to high-end digital backs.

Every time I see one of those Mercury Sables,

I think of cleaning.

As a photography student finishes school and begins shooting or assisting for profit, he realizes that there is much more to the business than he originally thought. The Pro Photo Business Blog is incessantly negative, and I usually can’t stand to read it, but this is a quip from a recent post I liked:
“Many people become photographers for the wrong reasons. For some, this profession might supply glamour, a creative outlet, or a need to express oneself, but these are reasons why you would choose a hobby. If you want to survive as a professional, you have to generate a sustainable profit. Here’s something they don’t teach you in photo school: Ninety percent of being a professional photographer is looking for work. Only nine percent is actually taking the photo. According to Arnold Newman, the last one percent is moving furniture.”
I’m not a huge comic strip connoisseur, but this one hits home. It’s all about the photo biz.
I like number 276:

Sometimes I need Alec Soth to explain what I think in more eloquent terms.
Of all the times I’ve been on that bridge.
